#LitLush chat recap 7/25: Books You Feel Everyone Else Has Read… Except You

Last night was a fantastic #LitLush chat where we talked about “Books You Feel LIke Everyone Has Read…… Except You” and boy. We had a LOT to talk about!

We talked about a LOT of books! From John Green to Sarah Dessen. From Shadow and Bone to Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Shatter Me, Anna and the French Kiss, My Life Next Door.

We talked about Jellicoe Road, Harry Potter, Howl’s Moving Castle, In the Shadow of Blackbirds, Unearthly, and soooo so many more!

Instead of rehashing the whole chat, we decided it might be nice to make a list of the books that a lot of the #LitLush chatters still wanted to read and form a sort of reading support group/mini-book club! We’re listing the books below that we talked about on Thursday and if you leave a comment below, we’ll keep an updated list to help you find a reading buddy! Of course this will be super casual, no read along rules or anything — Just friends reading books together!

Want a reading buddy? Let us know if you want to start a mini book club for any of the books below and we’ll match you with some friends! Please leave your Twitter handle so your buddies can contact you! 🙂

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
Sarah Dessen books, TBD
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Neil Gaiman books, TBD
For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Delirium by Lauren Oliver

We can always add more so let us know if there’s anything else you want to buddy-read or pick any book from this list! We’ll put your name down (don’t worry, it’s low pressure) and we can match you up with a reading buddy! We hope this is a fun way to read those high-pressure books! Hope you find a great reading partner!

#LitLush chat recap 7/11: Book Boyfriends!

We had SUCH A BLAST last night talking about book boyfriends for our second #LitLush twitter chat! Firstly we want to thank everyone who showed up to chat — You guys are awesome!!! We made some new friends, found some new books, and just had an overall good time!

After the chat was over, Alyssa suggested we made a list of all of the awesome book boyfriends that were mentioned over the course of the chat and we both thought it was a great idea! Maybe we’ll even get in the habit of recapping the chats!

We started off by talking about our favorite Boy Next Door/Best Friend romances! LOTS of people weighed in on Jase from My Life Next Door (I mean, next door is in the title… How could you not!?) and speaking of next door, we also swooned for Cricket from Lola and The Boy Next Door!  Another favorite was Jay from The Body Finder series going for the best friend side of the category.

Then the Bad Boys took over the conversation and this seemed to be a crowd favorite!!! We all loved talking about our favorite bad boys so much that this kind of took over the chat for a while!! First mention was Noah… TWO Noahs actually! Noah Hutchins from Pushing the Limits and Noah Shaw from the Mara Dyer series. Then we got to Wolf from Scarlet, Emilio Vargas from The Book of Broken Hearts, and some classics baddies like Dracula, Rhett Butler, and Heathcliff. A few Warner fans and of course, The Darkling, and Avika from Daughter of Smoke and Bone! Some were more brooding than “bad boy” like Sean Kendrick from The Scorpio Races and Jamie Forta from Confessions of an Angry Girl.

Then we swooned over those foreign guys (we just love accents)! Noah Shaw (again) and we started fangirling over Etienne St.Clair! He’s British AND French! Then we got to cute & funny Oliver from The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, Dimitri Belikov from the Vampire Academy series, and Will and Jem from The Infernal Devices. We like Willem from Just One Day BUT we’re still a little mad at him… Waiting for Just One Year!

We transitioned into ULTIMATE BOOK BOYFRIENDS. Amy kicked it off with Roger Sullivan from Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour…. Which ultimately led into a mini-read along because so many people hadn’t read it yet! Maggie loves Adam Wilde from If I Stay/Where She Went and Angie vouched for Tucker Avery from the Unearthly series! Alyssa said Bran from Son of the Shadows, Sana said Xander from The Distance Between Us, and Estelle loved James from Unbreak My Heart because he reminds her of her own husband James (aww).

We swooned for a full hour over bad boys, the boy next door, and everything in between and we had an absolute blast! So happy to see so many new faces as well as our regular crew! The next #LitLush Twitter chat is in two weeks on 7/25 and the topic is “Books You Feel Like Everyone Else Has Read… Except You”! You’re not alone 🙂 Hope to see you there!!
